GitHub Copilot Credit Cost Calculator

Estimate your monthly GitHub Copilot AI Credit usage and cost across every model in the picker โ€” and see if your plan actually covers it.

๐Ÿ’ก Based on GitHub's June 2026 token-metered billing (1 credit = $0.01). Model burn rates are directional estimates โ€” confirm real usage in your Copilot billing dashboard.

What is this Tool?

The GitHub Copilot Credit Cost Calculator helps developers and teams estimate what agent mode, chat, and code review usage will actually cost under GitHub's AI Credit system before it shows up on the invoice. Pick a model, estimate your monthly sessions and their size, and toggle context reuse or async cloud agent runs to see how they change your usage. It also compares your workload across every current Copilot plan โ€” Free, Pro, Pro+, and Max โ€” so you can see whether your usage fits your current tier or whether you're due for an upgrade.

Estimate Your Credits in 4 Steps

No spreadsheet needed. Fill, calculate, compare.

01

Choose Your Model

Select the model you use most in Copilot's picker โ€” from Gemini 3 Flash to Claude Opus 4.8 โ€” since heavier reasoning models burn credits faster per request.

02

Enter Your Usage

Add your expected agent or chat sessions per month, and roughly how large each session tends to be โ€” from a quick fix to a whole-repo refactor.

03

Adjust for Your Workflow

Slide in your context reuse share if you're working repeatedly in the same codebase, and toggle async cloud agent runs if that's how you mostly work.

04

Calculate & Compare

Click Calculate to see your estimated monthly credits and cost, then switch to the comparison tab to see the same usage checked against every Copilot plan.

1 AI Credit = $0.01. Code completions stay unlimited on every paid plan โ€” the credit pool only covers chat, agent mode, cloud agent runs, and code review. Business ($19/user) and Enterprise ($39/user) plans use pooled, admin-managed credits instead of a fixed personal pool. Rates and allowances change over time โ€” check GitHub's official Copilot pricing page for the current numbers.

Is this calculator free to use?
+
Yes, completely free. No sign-up required. Enter your numbers and get an instant estimate as many times as you like.
Where do the credit numbers come from?
+
Plan prices and credit pools reflect GitHub's published Copilot pricing as of July 2026. GitHub does not publish exact per-model credit-burn rates, so the model multipliers used here are directional estimates based on relative pricing patterns reported across 2026 coverage โ€” always confirm your real usage in Settings โ†’ Billing โ†’ Copilot.
What does "context reuse share" mean?
+
If you work repeatedly in the same codebase or reuse similar prompts and context across sessions, some of that repeated context can be processed more cheaply than fresh context. Set this to the rough percentage of your sessions that reuse recent context.
What counts toward the AI Credit pool?
+
Chat, agent mode, cloud agent runs, and code review all draw from your monthly credit pool. Inline code completions stay unlimited on every paid plan and don't consume credits.
What happens if I go over my plan's pool?
+
Once your monthly credit pool is used up, further chat, agent, or review usage is billed as overage or paused, depending on your plan and organization settings. This calculator flags when your estimated usage would exceed your selected plan's pool.

Disclaimer: This calculator provides estimates based on publicly listed plan prices and simplified assumptions about per-model credit burn rates, since GitHub does not publish exact model-level pricing. It does not account for every variable (org-level policies, promotional credits, regional pricing, or mid-cycle rate changes). Always confirm current pricing and your real usage in your GitHub Copilot billing dashboard before finalizing a budget.
